Early May 6, 2000

I arrived in downtown Collins around 8 am, (yes thats early morning for me), and found that many of the vendors had already setup shop. Others were still arriving and in process of setting up. While there were many people already browsing the wares, I knew this was only the beginning. By days end, this small Mississippi towns courtyard would be filled wall to wall as the festival season is kicked off in the South. While there were clouds in the sky, the forcast called for clearing by mid morning.Children were already waiting in line for the amusement rides to start, the band stand was being assembled, and the runners were just finishing the 5K. It was going to be a beautiful day for the festival.
