The 11th annual Okatoma Festival will come to life May 6, 2000 in Collins. The festival is designed to bring people back to nature with true Southern hospitality.

This year, more than 25,000 festival goers are expected to be in attendance for the opening parade with featured grand marshal Guy Hovis.

After the parade, guests can enjoy the music of Guy Hovis, the Jones County Junior College On-Stage Show Choir, the Backroads Band, and Lorenzo Hayes and the Foxy Lady.

Festival booths will be placed on the lawn of the historic courthouse. There, homemade crafts, arts, and foods will be created.

During the fair, clowns, games, and amusement rides will entertain children.

A highlight of the festival will be the 11th Annual Okatoma Canoe Race. The race begins in Seminary along Highway 590. It travels 13 creek miles and includes three main waterfalls. The race finishes in Sanford. Prizes and T-shirts will be awarded to all participants.
